In 2019 Warrnambool Art Gallery is delighted to present Haunting, a projection, video and photographic exhibition developed by the National Museum of Australia (NMA) in collaboration with Vic McEwan (The Cad Factory) during his residency at NMA in 2015. The exhibition features photographs and videos of museum objects selected by the artist from the National Historical Collection that embody the idea of changing natural forces (such as water, fog, smoke and smoke) to explore the contested interpretations of southern Australia’s agricultural history and narrative. Several objects featured in Haunting were made or used by Wiradjuri people. The NMA and The Cad Factory worked closely with Wiradjuri elders to ensure presented objects were interpreted and displayed appropriately. The WAG presentation of this exhibition will also feature objects that relate to the South West Victorian First Nations agricultural practices.
